Breaking Down Barriers: 5 Strategies for Fostering Communication amidst Generational Differences and Implicit Bias

via Zoom

Coleen Gose will be discussing how our generationally diverse workplaces affect how we communicate, problem-solve, and interact with one another. In this talk, she will take us through these generations and address their individual and distinct characteristics in relation to communication within the workplace.

The 4 generations present in today’s workplaces are the Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964), Gen X (born 1965-1980), Millennials (born 1981-1996), and Gen Z (born 1997-2012).

In combination with this, Coleen will explore how implicit biases affect the way we interact with those around us. Implicit biases are stereotypes we subconsciously/unknowingly project onto others. To connect these elements, Coleen will discuss her self-crafted 5-point framework, HEART, that helps to facilitate effective communication and conflict resolution between the generational lines in the workplace
